In 1928 the Dominican sisters established a mission in Duncan Village. The first Holy Mass was celebrated in 1928. Construction of a new church began in 1950 and was consecrated in January 1951. A new Presbytery was built next to the church. The complex was gutted by fire during the riots of the early 1950's but funds were raised asnd the first sections were re-built in 1954. Finally the new church was re-opened on 19/2/1956.

In May 2003 the sale of the land to the Diocese was approved by the Municipality but nothing seems to have happened since then. Leased documents refer to site 1648 and 1663 Municipal ref 665/12.
